I have fine, medium porosity, low elasticity, 2c hair. I had heard such great things about AG Recoil from so many different people, and decided to try it. Unfortunately this product really dries my hair out. I think it's the combination of glycerin and magnesium sulfate. I would say that it is curl enhancing, but after a couple of hours my hair is dry dry dry, and frizzy. I have tried getting this to work by sealing with oil, or using a heavier leave-in conditioner, but all to no avail. So although this product works for many people, unfortunately it does not work for me.
AG Re:coil is my wintertime HG wave maker. Winter tends to leave my waves limp and Re:coil brings them back to life! I will admit that my first few attempts with this product left me with less than stellar results. I have to use less of this product than any of my other products or I will have weighted, heavy hair. I use about a quarter sized blob of this cream for my BSL hair and rake it through dripping wet hair. I have found that this product is for curl enhancement only and provides no hold for me. I top it with my gels and get perky winter waves.
Unfortunately I havent been able to make this work for me yet. It doesnt seem particularly curl enhancing for me, even with hard hold gel on top. Every time I use this I seem limp and frizzy. I plan to hold onto it to try in the winter though, because I know a lot of products work differently in different seasons.
My hair likes mag sulfate, and not surprisingly, it also likes AG Re:Coil. I scrunch and pump a small amount into each of my three hair sections and add a firm hold gel on top. Using this in combination with BSRHG gives me nice curl and no canopy frizz.
My hair responds well to magnesium sulphate in the right formulation. Mag sulphate can be drying, but I haven't had that problem with Re:coil. A dime sized dollop of Re:coil leaves my hair silky soft, but with more, tighter, curls than I would have without it. I love this stuff.
This definitely gives me better waves than when I don't use it. My hair apparently loves mag sulfate. I buy the bigger bottle with the pump and use 2 pumps worth on my chin length hair. I only wash twice a week on average, so only use this twice per week on average. So far, it hasn't been overly drying or anything. I love Re:Coil. 2b, medium fine, normal, normal.
This is an HG product for me. My best hair days seem to be only when I use this. I have tried numerous ways to apply Re:Coil and I have found that a little goes a long way. I use 2 pea-sized drops (emulsified REALLY well before applying) after my leave-in and jelly curl enhancer, but before applying hard hold gel. This is the only way to avoid the coated feeling I sometimes get when I use this product.
