I don't consider this product a gel per se as it does't provide me much in the way of hold at all for me. I mainly use this product to tame frizz, add moisture, and add shine. And I am pleased that this product does all three! I use this as my first product (I do not use a LI) and layer gel over it. My favorite gel was leaving me dry on the 2nd day and not taming my halo frizz as nicely as I wanted, so I purchased CiaB as a base layer to hold moisture and keep down frizz, the shine is a welcome bonus.
I will admit that this product came with a learning curve for me. My first use, it gave me very soft whirls, even after my gels; no crunch to scrunch out...and I still had frizz. But my hair felt like silk and had shine. Plus I had more defined and moisturized 2nd day hair than ever before. So, it had potential.
Try 2. I used it over my gels as a sort of sealant. I got my crunch back, and had less frizz, but was still dry on the 2nd day from my gel. Back to the drawing board....
I was determined to find the magic combo that would give me the silk and shine from Try 1 and the frizz control from Try 2. I figured out that I wasn't using enough CiaB and I was going to have to up my gel usage just a bit. Try 3. I used 2 half-dollar sized puddles for my BSL hair. I used it under my gels and used just a touch more gel than I would use normally and diffused. I had crunch and no trace of frizz! I SOTC and was left with soft, shiny, defined, frizz free whirls! Bonus: I woke up the next day with the best 2nd day hair I have ever had. My gel had not dried my hair out, it was soft and relatively frizz free!
Short story: I consider this to be in my "Holy Grail" product line-up!
I use this to SOTC. It leaves my hair looking shiny and frizz free. I've only tried it under gel once, but my hair was awful that day. I need to experiment more, because I dont think it was CIAB fault, I was trying another new product too. I think there is a bit of a learning curve how to best use this product for you.
Makes my hair shiny. Very liquid-y. Strong coconut smell. Distributes well. Not really a hold product. Good definer/serum and very light but I can't get past the smell too easily. 7 out of 10 for defining.
My hair: 2b/c; texture: Fine; Density: Medium; Porosity: normal/low; Elasticity: Normal.

Thanks. This product was listed under gels, but has been moved to curl enhancer.
